About two years ago, the middle school I attended decided to go green. Green to them, though, has meant a lot more than just swapping in more energy efficient light bulbs.
With a virtually rebuilt building made of “100-year-old western red cedar reclaimed from wine barrels”, courtyard wetland, solar chimneys, photovoltaic roof panels providing the energy to the building, just to name a few of the features, it’s a real marvel in green engineering and contemporary architecture.
It’s a powerful message too for developers, architects, and buyers alike: green buildings can be good and look good too.
