Hello All,

As some of you may already know, I am currently living in Ghana,
Africa and doing volunteer work. Lately, I have been spending time at
a nearby Liberian refugee camp called Buduburam (www.buduburam.org). I
am helping with an after school program for kids that either cannot
afford to attend school at all or are not able to get all the help
they need during regular school hours. The kids range in age from 3
years to 10 years, and are quite possibly the cutest little things in
the world. Although it is great that these programs are available,
they are incredibly under-funded. There are only a few books for the
entire school, and the kids have to fight for a pencil to write with.
An “art institute” designed to help emotionally disturbed children
also is greatly lacking in any supplies. All of these programs – run
by a group of former child soldiers – rely solely upon donations. As a
result, they have virtually nothing. So if anyone wants to really help
out, they can send supplies like books, pencils, colored pencils,
crayons, markers, paints, teaching aids, education workbooks or
anything at all that you think they may need (seeing as they need
basically everything) to the camp. You would be amazed
at how little these kids have. Thanks so much and I miss you all!!!!

Supplies can be sent to:

Artemy Izmestiev
United Nations Development Programme
P.O. Box 1423 Accra, Ghana

Artemy is the volunteer coordinator for VESCAOL and his UN address
ensures that the package will not be tampered with. Thank you all so
much and feel free to email me (natasha.morse@gmail.com) if you have
any questions!
