The Beatles’ 1967 popular hit, “All You Need Is Love” epitomizes the Valentine’s Day spirit just as well as the heart does, but what about combining the two? Artist Damian Hirst, co-host of (RED) Art Auction with co-founder Bono, did just that in his heart-shaped original work entitled “All You Need Is Love” (2006) available for auction at Sotheby’s on February 14 in New York. Works by such contemporaries, Jasper Johns, Jeff Koons, and Takashi Murakami have been donated in an effort to raise $46 million for the Global Fund. This promises to be a stellar event, but unless you have a ticket and at least $100,000 to your name, you may be wondering, “How else can I get in on the auction action?” The answer is two fold- Gagosian Gallery and (PRODUCT) RED.

From February 4-13, all of the (RED) Art Auction works will be exhibited at the Gagosian Gallery located on 522 West 21st Street. If you’re too busy to make it downtown, buy a copy of the (RED) Art Auction catalogue and with 100% of the proceeds going to fight AIDS in Africa, you can feel good about pretending that you went. But whether it’s art or electronics that suit your fancy, (RED) is finding ways to make it easier for you, the consumer, to feel good about what you buy. So if Sotheby’s is a bit out of your price range, just find a (PRODUCT) RED that fits happily within it, and see your spending do good. They raise $42.5 million, 100% of it went to Africa too and Sotheby’s waived all their fees. That’s a lot for one day!
