We always say that doing good can be fun and nothing embodies that better than PlayPumps, which created a merry-go-round that’s also a water filtering pump. Kids spin the pump, providing otherwise unavailable energy in rural areas and pump up clean water at the same time. It not only prevents debilitating disease and death from contaminated water but the hours saved from hauling daily water allows girls to attend schools.

They’ve got an ambitious goal of establishing 10,000 play pumps around Sub-Saharan Africa by 2010 bringing clean water to 10 million people. You can help by donating here. Having fun and improving lives–all in a day’s play.
