Every body loves to watch breakdancing (it’s unavoidable, like cats to a laser), but unless you know about the battles or live near hubs like Union Square, you’re left to watch it on crappy camcorder tapes. So we’re glad to see a new documentary screening in the upcoming weeks called “Planet B-Boy”. An amazing film following the lives of 5 different breakdance crews from around the world, it delves into the lives of b-boys from around the globe, and does a great job of capturing an often exploited cultural art form of hip-hop. Sure there was Wild Style and Style Wars, but since the Bronx born dance form reached a popularity peak (and low) in the 80s, few have covered the phenomenon of its global impact and comeback. Don’t worry, this won’t be no Flava Flav (thank God).

Check out the PLANET B-BOY trailer. Showtimes and tickets are online now and you can buy ‘em here for NY or here for LA.

This is the most amazing movie documentary relating to a topic that I was never exposed to. The dance sequences are beyond amazing. This movie documentary does not try and hype the bboys - it shows their life struggles and ambitions. A first rate documentary - a must see!!!!
