Inspired by Behance, the alldaybuffet team will be starting a new series called “METHOD” where we’ll share pointers and tips on making social ideas happen.
With any volunteer organization, it’s rather difficult to keep a team constantly motivated and passionate about getting ‘full on good’. With busy schedules, full time jobs and a busy social schedule; it might almost seem impossible to volunteer! One thing our team has implemented to fix this problem is the “baton model” within our organization.
Everyone gets drained at times and we have a belief that it’s OK to take time off; as long as you find someone to replace you. It’s an obvious “no duh” but we found this simple solution to fix a lot of problems.
For example, our Cause for Drinks has been rapidly growing because of the “baton model.” We appreciate the time from our volunteers and we always want to keep people involved but life happens and people get busy. Rather than having volunteers donate time with no end in site; we ask them to volunteer for a set time-frame with the promise of finding a suitable substitution to take-over. It’s a win-win situation for both sides. It’s been a success so far as we’ve expanded AND stayed in each city.
Yeah… We like to keep it in the family!
