Bounce Music is the grimey/ghetto dance music straight out of New Orleans. According to the film Ya Heard Me, “Bounce is not just a style of music but a holistic community involving dance, block parties and clubs that together celebrate the unique story of the New Orleans urban lifestyle.”
Bounce is often neglected in favor of the Brass Bands and Mardi Gras Indians but it’s an authentic and deep-rooted part of New Orleans Culture. It’s reflective of the bottom-up growth out of the “wards” and have influenced artists like Juvenile & the sounds you hear today from ATL and MIA. It’s style includes the call-and-respond dances and shout-outs to the projects and wards in New Orleans. The best way to explain it — raw, ghetto, booty-shaking dance music that guarantees that you’ll be leaving any party sweating your ass off.

I dissagree wit da comment made about BOUNCE being tha kissing cousin of gogo. In art form bounce is nothing like gogo. Bounce has a totally different vibe style an effect from gogo. Gogo is more of a live band type of music and the only similarties is the ghetto feel of the music. I believe dat bounce is more hip hop like and at the same time more kin to 2nd line jazz and zydeco. Bounce is more original than gogo wit style flavor and feelin not downing gogo but in my opinion you can’t compare the two so wit no direspect intended fuck yo comment.
