MYMR Burma/China Fundraiser TONIGHT

May 22nd, 2008 by Jerri Chou · No Comments

The Cyclone in Burma and Earthquake in China have devastated thousands. The magnitude is daunting, as a friend accurately summed up the sentiment, there is some crazy ish going on in the world right now. But that makes action all the more necessary. So we’re turning out for the cause.

The good folks at MYMR (My World My Responsibility) are throwing a fundraising event TONIGHT in NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco that’s part awareness, part concert, part party. 100% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to relief projects in Burma and China through GlobalGiving.

So come out and show some support, or donate directly to GlobalGiving. And if you’re looking for a remedy to your donor fatigue, check out these haunting photos we of a wedding photographed at the time of the quake. Life’s short, the world is crazy, act now.

Here’s the info for NYC (you can find locations for all other participating cities here)

What is MWMR?

An anonymous to you, friends with each other, group of young adults who gets together when duty and responsibility call to help people with a desire to take action and make a difference, do so. We have hosted events for the Gujarat Earthquake, the Southeast Asian Tsunami, and Hurricane’s Katrina/Rita, Each of which have raised $8-20,000.

We take none of the proceeds, only what’s needed to cover our costs. In most cases, that is “nil” because venues like BLVD feel a sense of responsibility too. For that reason, show up in droves, be respectful, and tip your bartenders.
