Step into The Danger Global Warming Project and witness, hear, and experience the creations of skilled artists, the general public, and invited guests collaborating to spread awareness of global warming. Featuring photographs, music, and videos, this brainchild of art collective and musical group Blacksmoke encourages awareness and activism through non-traditional forms of multimedia. Although the under-construction site currently only features photographs and one video, this organization is in the process of creating a soundtrack, additional videos, and other projects to encourage activism, awareness, and artistic license.

The project’s photography component invites anyone to upload pictures that feature the neon Danger Global Warming tape (similar looking to police tape). Participants must use the tape to label or wrap “anything, anyone or anywhere that may contribute to climate change” and photograph the results. Once the images are uploaded (alongside those of invited guests and artists), they will be judged, and awards will be distributed to the chosen few.

The organization will also create a soundtrack that will feature re-mixes from “the world’s most respected producers” and range from “acoustic to industrial, and from lounge to drum and bass.” By experimenting with a full range of styles and by sampling, this soundtrack will bring awareness to the universal nature of the global awareness message. It will serve as a funky, aural metaphor for recycling. Once the soundtrack is created, it will be available to download for free from the website and from iTunes.

What originally caught our eye? This spin off video and site by German artist Thomas Frenzel. Based on a remix by Michael Fakesch, the experimental video features flashes of urban settings, depictions of human evolution, and contrasts artificial elements with organic ones. The video also features the Danger Global Warming tape as a way to clearly communicate its message. Thomas Frenzel is a freelance motion graphic and multimedia designer invited to contribute to Danger Global.

No offense, but why would an artist telling me about Global Warming alarm me? Also, I thought they changed it to ‘Climate Change’ since the globe is actually shown to be cooling now.

I don’t think the site is attempting to give any new information but simply trying to encourage more artists to put their talents towards increasing awareness, and also to find more creative/multimedia ways to spread the message. But like you say, global warming isn’t fresh news for anyone. Also, the site doesn’t mention “Climate Change” and I actually hadn’t heard of this either. If the globe is in fact cooling, that’s fantastic news!
