Causecast has finally launched! Causecast is a philanthropic site that brings a number of major figures in politics and entertainment together to pitch and bring attention to 10 non-profit companies a month. According to their website:
Causecast empowers people who want to make change. We’ve built Causecast to be a platform where media, philanthropy, social networking, entertainment and education converge to serve a greater purpose.
Every member of Causecast is an individual who wants to make a difference. Causecast has your tools for change.
Our community of leaders includes artists, celebrities, brands, activists, philanthropists, writers, musicians, athletes, geeks, teachers, dancers, students, environmentalists and more - all working towards common goals - and contributing in their unique ways.
Causecast built this platform to bring organizations, intentions and actions together, to show you how you can make change happen everyday, from wherever you are.
Pretty interesting stuff as they have Jenny McCarthy on the front page as a “Causecast Leader.” Seems like they pair celebrities with different non-profit organizations. I guess that begs the question: do people really care about celebrities and how they are involved with philanthropy?
They also have some other interesting events such as “Bicycle for a Day” which takes place on September 20th in NYC. Check it out by visiting http://www.causecast.org and sign up for an account!
