…place to be right now is New York if you want to change the world. Already this week alldaybuffet has brought you news of support offered by the NYC Venture Philanthropy Fund and the inspirational Feast Conference, now - in case that wasn’t enough - New York University are about to launch the “Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century Speaker Series.”

John Mackay, founder of Wholefoods, will begin this year’s series on October 8. The grocer-philosopher isĀ  recognised by Wall Street Journal as the CEO of the most socially responsible high-profile business in the world , having built a $5.6 billion empire around his set of personal ‘conscious capitalism’ values.

Future speakers include the founders of Craigslist and Ethos Water, and come from a variety of fields including the environment, technology and commerce. Each will be sharing lessons on how to realize your vision and insights on overcoming the inevitable setbacks that face any ambitious entrepreneur. A full list of speakers as well as podcasts of this and previous years’ talks, is available at www.nyu.edu/reynolds/speaker_series/0809.html.

Attending is free so make sure to reserve a place early. Listen carefully and it could prove to be the ticket to your very own billion dollar, socially conscious empire.
