With the top-down system in disarray, it’s time for the bottom-up funding and crowd source movement to lead the way and show the world what’s it’s got. Which is why we’re excited to have on of the micro-funding world’s all-stars with us at our first Feast Salon this coming Monday!
Kickwho? How does it work? Basically people propose projects for funding. Whether a CD, or an art project, others can pledge to micro-fund these works (and get cool stuff in return). If the project hits it goal within the allotted amount of time, it’s a go, the projects gets its funding and is on its way. If not, no harm, no fowl Everyone walks away as if nothing happened.
Some of the most popular projects include Givabit, which will help people discover worthy causes and easily donate small amounts to them by making the iPhone an exciting new fundraising platform and the RAA 7” Project.
Why all this? Because they believe
- A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
- A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.
The system is pretty new (and proposals are invite only right now) so we’re excited to get Perry Chen’s thoughts on the potential for this new model.
Also speaking on creative ways to get full on good are Noah Brier // The Barbarian Group , Steve Larosiliere // Stoked Mentoring
